Here's a short Video Clip of Biggles.

Biggles

Biggles died on 20th March 2006, a week after an operation to remove his left eye, which had painful glaucoma. In his short life, he had so much to put up with: glaucoma, cataracts, infected toe, the loss of his partner Bessie, and watching two of his partners being attacked by foxes. He is being missed.

This is Biggles. He is a Netherland / Dutch / Lionhead cross, which is quite a mixture.

He's very soft, very cute and always up for a cuddle. He loves to lick the back of your hand or your neck - probably for the salt.

Sadly, in 2004, cataracts started forming inside Big's eyes - and in early 2005 he was virtually blind. He was examined by an opthalmic vet who could only offer some rather risky invasive surgery, with no guarantee of success. Nevertheless, he still gets lots of love from Linda and Geoff as well as some from the cats.

Bigs has adapted to his blindness quite well, - when moving around he tilts his ears forwards and uses them like feelers! He's not daft!

Bigs is a bit of a thumper - he'll bang with his back legs if he thinks there's trouble, or if he's not happy with what's going on.

When he was younger, he saw two of his mates (the late Billy and Bessie) attacked by foxes, so he's always a rather nervous and cautious rabbit, and who could blame him.

The photo below shows Biggles with his foot bandaged after getting an abcess on his toe . He managed to remove it about an hour after the photo was taken. (Click to enlarge).
