Bessie

Sadly, Bessie died on 9 March 2005, on her third birthday, after being ill for a couple of weeks. A neurological problem caused her to lose the use of her back legs. She stopped eating and drinking, and despite the best effort of our vet, she deteriorated rapidly. Biggles misses her desperately, as we do too.

Bessie was a grey Lionhead rabbit. She was very friendly, very fluffy and very cute. Her and Biggles were hopelessly devoted to each other, and spent much of the day snuggled up together.

Our rabbits have a large run in our back garden, where they enjoy chomping the grass and chasing the cats out of it. Bessie was born in March 2002, and grew up fast.

In November 2002, Bessie met with Skinny Jim, one of our local foxes who came into the garden looking for supper. The fox nearly made off with Bessie, and despite bite marks in her neck, she was lucky enough to live to tell the tale !

Despite all this, Bessie was a chilled-out rabbit, - she was quite happy to spend ages dozing on her back in the crook of your arm, and she was quite content to nod off with the rest of us while watching TV.
